Mediums, Clairvoyants and Psychics

There seems to be, and apparently always has been, much confusion over the definitions between psychics, mediums and clairvoyants. It has been brought to my attention many times over recently, no less by appearing on the Kilroy show, that many people don’t know the difference between all of these ‘names’ that those of us that work with spirit and energy are blessed with.

I have been following my spiritual path solidly since 1997 and am very fortunate that I’ve been able to enhance many of my senses and gain much knowledge along the way. Technically I could call myself any of these ‘names’ mentioned above, as I’m also very fortunate to have been able to develop all these natural gifts of awareness, which warrant each of these titles.

To help give just a brief run down before my more lengthy explanations here is a quick resume of what the dictionary had to say about each of these:

  • Psychic – pertaining to mental forces, telepathy, extra sensory perception
  • Medium – contacting and being able to communicate with spirits of the dead
  • Clairvoyance – the ability to see things beyond our normal senses

The thing is that also if you look in a thesaurus you will see each of these words in each of the other words categories i.e. psychic will be found under clairvoyant and medium. Medium will be found under psychic and clairvoyant and so on…

So it all seems to be rather confusing and not surprising that many people don’t know who or what they are letting themselves in for when visiting one of these people, or if they were to go to an evening of clairvoyance, would they get clairvoyance or would they get mediumship, or indeed both or neither?

Well, I hope that the following explanations, that have come with the help of my guides via my clairaudient ability, which has not yet been mentioned, will help you become much clearer on who and what a psychic, medium or clairvoyant is and does. This of course is my interpretation and understanding of all of these and anyone wanting to mail me with further information or opinions I would be more than happy to read them, as I am always keen to learn more!

Let’s start with explaining about a psychic. Someone that calls himself or herself a psychic may well be labelling themselves as such because it is stereotypically recognised as someone that can ‘read you’ and most likely be able to tell you about, your past, present, future and many other things that the psychic could not possibly have known about you before having your reading. This essentially is correct, but how they do this in the true sense of the word, is that as a psychic they will have like a ‘mental connection’ with you and they will also read your energy field, so they will be very sensitive and be able to pick up on your thoughts and energy most of all. People will tell you that you are psychic if you know who it is when the phone rings, for example. They may well have some or all of the other abilities that will be mentioned as follows, but not necessarily so.

We then get to what I call the ‘Clairs’. We have at least three ‘clair’ abilities (please tell me if you know of any more!) and they are clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience. Interesting here though, that the dictionary only recognises sentience and not clairsentience.

Now, clairvoyance actually translates to ‘clear seeing’. It means that the person that is working with their clairvoyant ability will be able to see images of people, places or things in their minds eye, they are able to describe these to you during a reading or when giving a message. This does not mean that they are fortunetellers or seers of the future, although that doesn’t mean that you won’t get some information about the future, but clairvoyance is by definition simply clear seeing, and not seeing the future.

A good clairvoyant will, and indeed should, validate things for you that have happened in the past and things that are happening in the present. If they don’t, how will you know or believe if what they are saying about the future holds any weight?

As a footnote to the ‘fortune telling’ side of things, from my own experience, I tend not to give too much future information, as I believe it is subject to change, even though things are generally mapped out for us, we still have free will and the ability to ‘change our fate’. For example, if I were to tell someone I can see they are going to meet a man abroad in two months time, it means that I can see that happening subject to the way they are leading their life at the present time. If they then go out and plan a holiday unexpectedly to try and make that happen, the chances are they won’t meet the person I saw for them because they have ‘changed their own fate’, by arranging a holiday. It may have been that they would have met them via a business trip abroad that they now won’t be on, because they are away from work, on holiday!! I hope you get my meaning?

Now as well as clairvoyance, there is also something called clairaudience. Clairaudience is essentially ‘clear hearing’. This means that we will hear information from Spirit. This might be ones own Spirit Guides or if working as a medium giving messages it will be the Spirit of the loved one that is no longer here, giving that information. Personally I don’t hear it on a physical level, I hear it as a voice in my head as if I were talking to myself silently. Now, as with any of these abilities the non-believers would argue that we’re making it all up as we go along. It is our imagination. Well, all I can say is that I most definitely know when it’s spirit and not me (after years of practice and trusting), because the words come so fast I wouldn’t have time to think it for myself even if I tried. I usually find myself working with this ability, especially when working as a medium, when Spirit are giving me specifics, like names, dates and places etc.

There is also another ability that many of us work with and that is Clairsentience. This is where we feel things, or sense things, as the word suggests, it is ‘clear sensing’. I usually get this, again when working as a medium, when someone has passed with a certain illness or condition. For a split second I will feel a sensation that they would have felt before they passed on or perhaps the sensation of a condition they would have suffered with during their life, so that I can describe this to the person I am giving a message to. This helps to validate which particular person is coming through from Spirit for them.

It also might come into play from a psychic perspective as you may well feel something about the person you are reading directly. For example you might physically feel a quick pain in your arm if they have injured it recently. However, it might not be something physical that you feel, it can also be defined as an inner knowing, so just a feeling you get about something, like a gut feeling. You may just energetically feel or just know somehow that the person you are reading has a bad arm.

Now I have mentioned a couple of times about working as a medium and we still have this to explain. Mediums and mediumship are slightly trickier to define, or very simple, depending on whether you want the easy version or the more complex one!

The simple version is that a medium is someone that ‘talks to dead people’!
(Now the boy in the film Sixth Sense would be a clairvoyant/medium, because to quote him ” I see dead people!”)

The harder version is that a medium by another definition is the ‘channel’ by which information from spirit passes through or indeed is the channel through which any energy passes. By this definition all of us indeed are mediums (as opposed to smalls or larges…sorry, couldn’t resist getting that in somewhere!). This is because we all channel energy to some degree or another. If we draw, we are a medium (as is the pencil) through which energy flows to create the picture on the page. If we sing, we are a medium (as is the voice) through which energy flows to create a song. If we are healers (another topic entirely) we are mediums through which the energy flows to our clients and so on…

This then means by its very nature that anyone working with Spirit or energy on any level could be called a medium. A medium in this sense is then being defined as a ‘channel’.

So someone that calls themselves a clairvoyant/medium, by rights, should be able to describe your loved ones from the spirit world and also to describe visually things around your home or family for example. It has been brought to my attention that there are a few ‘clairvoyant/mediums’ out there, that aren’t in fact either of these! They may ‘read’ people, but they may be reading via their psychic or sentient ability and not actually ‘seeing’ anything at all, or indeed they may not be able to talk with your loved ones in spirit either. This doesn’t mean they aren’t good readers, it just means they might not be offering you the sort of reading you were really after. Never be afraid to ask your ‘reader’ how they work, they should always be more than happy to explain it to you. This way, you know what sort of reading you can expect.

Also it can be confusing when you see an evening of clairvoyance or an evening of mediumship advertised, to know what exactly it is you will be going to. Generally speaking at either of these you will have a medium that will be bringing messages through from loved ones in spirit, but as you can see by definition there is room for confusion, so if in doubt check with the organisers as they will be able to tell you exactly what to expect from the evening.

So, hopefully, this has helped explain a little about the differences between clairvoyants, clairsentients, clairaudients, mediums and psychics.
The likes of James Van Praagh, John Edward, Derek Acorah, Colin Fry and Tony Stockwell work with all of these abilities in some way or another and anyone that has been practising for some time will also be able to tune in to Spirit and energy on all these levels. The whole thing, in my opinion, about working with Spirit and energy is to be as clear a channel as you can possibly be and only ever be using these abilities for the highest good of all concerned and only ever with the persons permission.

Enjoy walking your spiritual path and please by all means email if you would like further information or if you have anything you would like to add to this.

Walking the Ascension-Enlightenment Pathway

It was 3013 years ago that a doorway was beginning to open up for all humans. This doorway would be our entrance into and onto the Ascension-Enlightenment Pathway. It would be the start of when we would begin to fully remember who we are, and to discover our origin in the universal consciousness of the infinite mind. It would be our returning to the original home that we came from, to be here on earth. This would be the place that we would begin to understand the role that we played here in the overall universal blueprint and the purpose of the infinite universe.

We have been coming back from spirit to the human plain, lifetime after lifetime, to bring the infinite energy of the universe in; providing the space and the energy for it to grow. We would finally begin to awaken to the truth that we, on the finite plane, have never been separated from the infinite plain of spirit. We would finally learn that the energy of the divine spirit is and always has been within us. It is and always has been in our body. It is in, and is, our consciousness. It exists all around us. This pathway of Ascension-Enlightenment is a new relationship that is developing between the human and the spirit within. We are opening up to the paths of our own origin that is within us. The separation, veil that has kept us from this knowledge is thinning, and we are seeing into other dimensionalities of the infinite worlds. We are learning to walk and to bring together the two worlds of the finite (human), and the infinite (spirit) simultaneously as one.

We are discovering new sensations, new feelings, and a sense of restlessness as we become accustomed to this merging effect. In 1987/88 this merging effect would be called the harmonic convergence. This is the convergence of the harmony, rhythm and frequency of love and light of the spirit with the human. We are becoming what Walt Whitman would call the ‘body electric’, Tobias would call the Divine Human, and Archangel Michael would call ‘the Golden Angel’.

We are now merging with our grander part, our true self; what we would call our higher self.

We are all in, and going through, a tremendous period of transitions, transmutations and transformations. We are moving into potentials that we have never known existed. We are moving to new levels of multi-consciousness. We are raising our frequencies, vibrations and densities to the level of the light and love of the Spirit Divine.

As Robert Frost would say:

“Two roads diverge in a wood,
And I…
I took the one
Less travelled by
And that has made all the difference.”

William Wordsworth would also state that,

“Our birth is but a sleep, a forgetting.
This process of Divine Transformation
Is part of our Divine Awakening?
Awakening to the still Divine Point,
In each of us.
This still Divine Point that is untouched
By time and space.
This is our Divine Point of Entrance
Into our, Timelessness of Eternity.”

This Ascension-Enlightenment pathway is to now allow for us to awaken To, and make the choice with our Free Will of the Human, to enter into Our Divine Will of the Spirit. We can now merge these two wills back to Their Eternal Universal Consciousness of the One Infinite Supreme Spiritual Mind with its Infinite Supreme Love that gave birth to all that is and has ever been.

We must now realize as Buckminster Fuller has said: 99.9999% of what affects our reality will be undetectable by our five senses. We must learn to think for ourselves, rather than to follow blindly what has Been taught.

It was Thomas Troward in the late 18th century who realized that we were In the final stages of the Ascension Process. He knew that the Universal Consciousness of the Infinite Supreme Spirit was ready to give birth to the next level of its evolutionary process. Thomas knew. that in the next 100 years, the Earth and the Universe as we know it would go through a revolutionary change, the likes that we have never witnessed before. We were going from the Ascension Phase into the final phase of Enlightenment.

Scrying – The Art of Scrying

SCRYING is an ancient art that has been used by mystics and clairvoyants through the ages to develop psychic ability.

Archaeological evidence indicate that people inhabited ancient Egypt much earlier than has previously been suggested and by the 4th Century BC one of the goddesses in Egypt, HATHOR, the Egyptian Sky Goddess of Joy and Love was believed by priests and priestesses to carry a shield that could “reflect back all things in their true light”.

From this shield she was said to fashion the first magic mirror to “see” or “scry”.

Around 2,000 BC, both Greece and early Britain practised forms of scrying, and in ancient China the art of reading tealeaves was practised as a form of scrying. Even Nostradamus was believed to have employed a small bowl of water as a scrying aid, and a crystal ball was used by Dr John DEE, consultant to Elizabeth I. This is still on display in the British Museum in London.

During the time of King Arthur the art of scrying was actively practised as a part of the ” Old Ways”, and most women carried some form of moon scrying cards with them as guidance to help them make daily decisions. The use of divination formed a natural part of their daily life. It was not seen as something “separate”, but a practical way of dealing with the demands of life and as necessary as we would today regard a filofax or laptop to give us information!

By gazing into a reflective object such as water or a mirror, a person is able to go into a light hypnotic trance state that allows them to see information that arrives in the form of pictures, symbols, letters, impressions, or sensations. All this information comes from the person making a free association with images they may notice when looking into the reflective object, however trivial or irrelevant they may seem to the conscious mind. By focusing on these so-called trivial images, a connection is formed with the subconscious mind and the images can then deepen to reveal more complete information and in some instances even allow the person to see an “inner movie”.

Today we know the process is linked to helping a person to tap into the super sensory powers of their subconscious mind where there is no time or space, and so makes it possible to tap into future, past and present times and for it to be used for purposes of guidance and future divination.

Traditional scrying is done with blank objects like water or mirrors, but in fact it is equally possible to do scrying with reflective cards. Scrying into a blank image is sometimes more difficult as the subconscious mind needs a “hook” to start the process of connection, and it is easier to scry a reflective object such as a scrying card that already has images that can act as “hooks”.

You need to “attune to” or “scry” a specific card that you draw after you have asked a question. This means that by looking at a card you have drawn from a pack of scrying cards and studying it as if you are looking at a mirror, you will form a connection with the card, and the more you allow yourself to respond to the images that you are drawn to notice – even though they may seem trivial or irrelevant- you will be drawn into a slight trance and realise that what you are seeing is starting to change. Different images may start to appear on the card, or the way you may feel about that, or it may start to remind you of something else and the more you concentrate on what is changing, the stronger the connection will become. Think of yourself going “into” the card like you are going into a tunnel. Then all that you need to do is be patient and give it time to unfold.

Once there is a deeper connection with the card, you will be able to tap into your own subconscious guidance and your inner intuition. You will discover a deeper “seeing” or “knowing” inside. The images and thoughts that may come up may not be logical or make sense immediately, but your gut feel will, if you trust it and allow it to work, help you to understand the situation more clearly as time goes on. What you will need to do is to apply the images, feelings and thoughts that you may receive to the question you have and want guidance about.

You will also be guided as events around the question or issue you have asked about begin to unfold. Most often you will receive some form of guidance or understanding within around 48 hours of doing the scrying as the subconscious mind can be triggered quite quickly.

Even though you may feel hesitant to trust your “gut” feel or intuition, as you start to use scrying, your confidence will grow and you will be able to rely on it more and more. Over a period of time you will notice a big positive change in your life and you will have found a tool you can use for life!

Scrying is a unique and magical tool as it can also help you to connect to your own and unique imagination.

Everyone uses some form of imagination although it is often dismissed as naive or childish. Every new invention or scientific discovery comes from some form of imagination. It can only become real if it can be imagined by someone – nothing can exist unless someone has had the imagination to think about it!

Professional sportsmen and women are also very aware of this power of the imagination. By “imagining” themselves to be top performers, they are able to improve their performances and break through existing limitations and records. This is because our brain does not distinguish between what is imagined and what actually happens, and so using the imagination can be a very powerful tool.

The imagination always brings up powerful feelings and emotions and these emotions can be used as a tool for positive change. By allowing ourselves to feel, we can imagine a new picture to unfold with more positive feelings. And so scrying can also be used to create positive change in one’s life. By looking at a scrying card, the person can start to imagine something different to what they are seeing and feeling and so start to create a positive change – doing this during the process of scrying it can set into motion powerful changes in the subconscious. This is a magical process used by psychics and clairvoyants such as Nostradamus who saw very negative futures and wanted them to change.

Try it and see what happens!

Crystals – Choosing Crystals

With such a wide choice of crystals and minerals available to us these days it can sometimes become quite overwhelming when we try to choose which ones are right for us. As crystals, and us, are made up of energy and are interconnected they normally choose you as much as you would choose them! Each crystal will end up with you for a reason, whether you have chosen it yourself or have been given it as a gift. The energy from the crystal will be what you need at the time of choosing, so it may not be one that stays with you forever, (they have a habit of disappearing or being given away when they have done their work with you. They may also break if they have taken on too much negative energy. This is why crystals need cleansing).

Why choose a crystal?

Here are just a few reasons why we might choose crystals other than for healing purposes:

  • For remembering dreams
  • Create a harmonious atmosphere in your surroundings
  • Protection, from others negative energy fields, from computers etc.. and in the home against unwelcome intruders
  • For help with focus, to remember and for exams etc.
  • To prevent travel sickness, keeping calm in the car, to help find your way (& parking spots!)
  • Plants love crystals to help them grow and get rid of pests
  • Confidence booster
  • Creativity, whether music, art or in the kitchen
  • As an agony aunt, tell it all your troubles (but do remember to cleanse it well afterwards)

There are endless uses of crystals but always remember to use them only for the Highest Good of all concerned.

So, how do we choose?
If you are trying to choose a crystal for a specific reason, then focus on that reason and allow your intuition to choose the right crystals.

  • The ‘must have’ crystal – this is when a crystal categorically picks you. You simply must have it for whatever reason! When you get it home, sit with it, meditate with it and find out why it picked you. If you don’t get an answer straight away, don’t worry, try asking again at a later date. It may not even be for you, especially true if you are a healer as it may be for a client that is about to come your way
  • Visually – this is probably how most of us choose to start with. It’s when a crystal takes your eye, it looks right and maybe has that special sparkle.
  • Sensing – this is when you just ‘know’ that a crystal is right.
  • Hearing – you may hear the name of the crystal you need or you might be lucky enough to hear a sound that the crystal makes and again know that this is the right one.
  • Taste and smell – it is less likely that you will pick a crystal by sense of taste or smell, but if these senses are strong within you as an individual it may be that you get a taste in your mouth or a certain smell when you are choosing.
  • Touch – this will be when the crystal feels right to touch. It feels comfortable and you may feel tingling, heat or some other sensation when holding it.
  • Dowse for it – if you know how to use a dowsing pendulum, then you could dowse for it.

Choosing crystals is mainly about using your intuition and using your six senses as an extension of that intuition. Remember that crystals will choose you as much as you choose them! Enjoy them!

New Age Movement

New Age – A Paradigm Shift to Divine Consciousness & a Universal Philosophy

The New Age Movement (NAM) is a revival of spiritual and divine values and can be called a Divine Regeneration Movement. New Age Philosophy has conquered the West intellectually and Western culture is currently experiencing a phenomenal shift – sociological, spiritual & ideological. It’s a secular, multi-cultural, multi-religious synthesis, of the Oriental mystical philosophies, mainly Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism & Western Occultism, emphasising Holism, the doctrine that Reality is organically One (now taught in American Universities after Einstein’s Theory of Relativity ).

Behind the evolution of the species, there is an evolution of Consciousness. The aim of Life is Self-Actualisation, to evolve to the level of Unity Consciousness, defined as the 7th state of Consciousness in Transcendental Philosophy.

The social disturbance caused by the Vietnam War, the threat posed by AIDS, the disillusionment with materialistic ideas and the erosion of faith in Morality & Ethics brought a sense of futility & meaninglessness in the Western psyche. The limitations of the Western system of Chemotherapy & adverse side-effects of antibiotics, sedatives and certain other drugs and the disillusionment with the promises of science & technology made millions turn to Oriental philosophies, occult practices & alternative systems of therapy. (Interest in Alternative Medicine developed to such an extent that there are now more than 180 systems).

Exponents of New Age Philosophy in Europe and America include Transcendentalists like Thoreau, Emerson & Walt Whitman, Wordsworth, Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) & Theosophy introduced by Madame Helena Blavatsky (1831- 1891) & Col Olcott & the philosopher, Annie Besant. As the world witnessed a Consciousness Revolution, Transcendental Meditation, Yoga ,Zen, Carlos Castañada, the Beatles, Holistic Medicine (both Western and Ayurveda), Tantra, Astrology (both Western & Vedic) all became popular .

There are 6 million New Age sites on the Web and the NAM consists of a massive & well organised network consisting of thousands of groups, trusts, foundations, clubs, lodges, and spiritual groups whose goal and purpose is to prepare the world to enter the coming Aquarian Age (The Age of Aquarius). In astrological symbolism, Aquarius represents Spirituality and Pisces Rationality. The Piscean Age, an age of Computer and Cybernetics revolution, will be followed by an Age of Consciousness Revolution or a Spiritual Revolution, the Aquarian Age.

Some New Age Organisations are : California New Age Caucus, New World Alliance, World Goodwill, The Church Universal and Triumphant, The Theosophical Society, Amnesty International, Zero Population Growth, the Forum, Planetary Initiative for the World We Choose, the Club of Rome, Christian Science, and the Unity School of Christianity.

New Age believes in the essential goodness of Man and the Divine Spark in Man and the New Age movement is not a unified cult system of beliefs and practices, even though its roots derive from Vedic Philosophy. There is no central authority, no official leader, no headquarters, nor membership list, but instead is a network of groups working toward World Peace and Universal Love. There are millions of worldwide followers of various New Age practices and the world is moving from Chaos (Disorder) to Cosmos (Order)! This is a Phase Transition from Entropy (Disorder) to Order!

Significant influence has been gained by NAM affecting almost every area of Occidental culture — Sociology, Psychology, Medicine, the Government, Ecology, Science, Arts, Education, the Business Community, the media, entertainment, sports, and even the Church. Organised spiritual forms such as Christian Science, Unity and even forms of Witchcraft (from the German ‘ Wicca’ meaning the Wise; Witchcraft means the Craft of the Wise) are all its expressions. Various Human Potential Seminars, Transcendental Meditation, Zen Meditation and some Alternative Holistic Medicine practices are also its manifold manifestations.

Some popular New Age publications and journals are New Age Journal, the Z Files, Clarity, Body Mind Spirit, Yoga Journal, Gnosis, East West, Noetic Sciences, the Millenium Being and Omega. The new tendency of people now is to view everything from a New Age perspective. The major goal of the New Age Movement is to prepare Man for entering the Aquarian Age and to bring world peace in an already bruised world. “All is wrong with the world” said Shaw & some of the other goals of the NAM are to establish an entirely New World Order in the fields of Economy & Government. The idea of a World Government was proposed by Bernard Shaw earlier and was implemented by Mahesh Yogi and occurs in the writings of the foundational apostle of the New Age Movement, Alice Bailey.

The word ‘Initiation” is derived from the Latin “In ire” to go within and Initiates were termed by the Great Master as the salt of the Earth. The mystic Ward defined Reality as “Within and within and within and within”. Another mystic described it as “It is hidden, it is hidden and it is hidden”. To the mystic, self evolution is the means, and only by changing and correcting ourselves can we change others . The primary goals of the movement then, are to prepare the world to receive the Divine Consciousness and to enter the Age of Aquarius, thus establishing the New World Order. New Age Philosophy believes that human evolution can be accelerated, if not in the entire mass of humanity, at least in suitable individuals. Human nature is perfectible, through an intensive process of purification and Initiation.

The New Age Movement is secular & universally diffused over the earth’s surface & its basic underlying philosophy emphasises Gnosticism and Occultism. (Gnosticism is an ancient philosophy stating that Divine essence is the highest reality, and that the Self of man is actually this Essence. Behind the phenomenal world is the Transcendent Reality which Intuition alone can see ). It bears a remarkable resemblance to the Universal Religion that H.G. Wells predicted would one day take over the world.

The six main characteristics of New Age thinking are:

(1) All is Unity;
(2) All is Divine
(3) Humanity is divine
(4) A change in Consciousness;
(5) All religions are One;
and (6) Cosmic Evolutionary optimism. Basically Dialectical Integralism, New Age Philosophy unites both Matter and Spirit.

Spirit shall see through Matter’s gaze, Matter shall reveal the Spirit’s face!

The 13 main principles of New Age Philosophy are:

(1) One Global Order – One World Governement, One Currency, One Universal Being.
(2) Universal Energy, Universal Matter, Universal Life, Universal Soul As God
(3) An Eternal Universe – Uniform in Space and Unending in Time
(4) Divine practices (Astrology, Yoga & other esoteric arts)
(5) Syncretism (Unity of all Religions).
(6) The need for Meditation (for generating altered states of Consciousness);
(7) Life is Cyclical- Everything is cyclical, subject to the cyclical upheavals of Time.
(8) Holistic Medicine & Vegetarianism (The patient is more important than the Doctor & Alkaline diet)
(9) Pacifism (Anti-war activities);
(10) Reincarnation; (The Law of Conservation of Soul )
(11) The Evolution of Man into Divinity; (The latent Life Force evolving naturally to the Divine)
(12) The Union of Man with the Divine; (Merger of man into the Infinite )
(13) Matter’s Illusoriness; – Esse est percipii – Perception is Essence; Mind is Substance.

The practices of the New Age are psychic practices like : Astrology, Reiki, Bioenergy, Chi energy, Chakras, Nirvana, Christ-Consciousness,Spiritualism, Native American Spirituality, Prajna, Out-of-body/near-death experiences, Reincarnation, Yoga, Meditation and the occult disciplines, as well as psychotherapeutic techniques and scientific applications of the healing powers of crystals and pyramids.

Some commonly used New Age terms are: Quantum Healing, Transmutation, Transfiguration, Guided Imagery, Reincarnation; Positive Thinking; Human Potential; Holistic; Holographic; Synergistic; Unity; Oneness; Transformation; Awakening; Zetworking; Communal Sharing; One-world/globalism/new world order (i.e., One language, One Government, One currency, One religion); Cosmic Consciousness; Zodiac, etc.

Some New Age practices are: Transcendental Meditation, Parapsychology, Inner healing; Biofeedback; Yoga; I Ching; Reflexology; Therapeutic Touch; Transpersonal Psychology; Witchcraft; ; Magick; Tai Chi; Shamanism; Hypnotherapy; Acupuncture/Acupressure; Martial arts; Zen; Relaxation; Silva Method (formerly Silva Mind Control); Visualization; etc.

Some prominent New Agers are: Jeremy Rifkin, Norman Cousins, Elizabeth Clare Prophet, John Denver, George Lucas, Norman Lear, Alice Bailey, Alvin Toffler, Dr. Barbara Ray, Benjamin Creme, Levi Dowling, George Trevelyan, Fritjof Capra, Abraham Maslow, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Ruth Montgomery, Shirley MacLaine, J.Z. Knight, Marilyn Ferguson and David Spangler.

Soothing audio environments are created by New Age musicians and they believe rightly that Music has psycho-therapeutic properties (This concept is derived from the Vedic Philosophy that All music is Samaveda, the 4th Veda of the Indians ). Born of an interest in spirituality and healing in the late 1970s, it is often used as an aid in meditation.

Essentially meditative, New Age Music is soothing to the Soul. Isn’t Music defined as the food for the Soul? Harmonic consonance, uplifting themes, contemplative melodies & nonlinear song forms are the characteristics of New Age music. Even natural sounds or sounds from Nature and traditional & electronic instruments are used by New Age musicians. With roots in classical music or Eastern Music, New Age music is often meditative. Prominent New Age musicians include vocalist Liz Story; harpist Andreas Vollenweider, electric violinist Jean-Luc Ponty , electronic-music pioneer Brian Eno, multi-instrumentalist Kitaro & solo-piano artist George Winston.

New Age practices have almost conquered the world. Athletes are using guided imagery. Graduate schools of business are invoking T M, Yoga, and Tarot cards in teaching courses on creativity in business (e.g., Stanford Graduate School of Business). Based upon Astrology, the Science of Time, stock market gurus employ Fibonacci numbers and “Wave Theory” in their forecasting. We can summarise that the term New Age is an innovative term derived from the mother of all sciences, Astrology, indicating that this earth is undergoing an evolutionary transitional phase from the Piscean Age of Scientism to the Aquarian Age of Divine Wisdom, Cosmic Consciousness , Knowledge and Love.

Since the New Age is a conglomeration of spiritual practices, let us analyse the basic principles of N A M

1. The Divine Source of Authority. New Agers do not claim any source of authority — Only Inspiration by the Divine. By the Divine we mean a principle within, the Divine Spark or the Self and many are there who receive the revealations of the Self within or the intuitive insights of the Self.

2. The Lord. – Since Matter and Energy can neither be created or destroyed and the sum total energy in the Universe is an absolute constant ( Universal Being ), the Lord did not create the world, He became the world. Monism –( “All is Unity” ) averrs that there is only One Essence in the universe, everyone and everything being a part of that essence. The Self is an utter Being and all these are its Becomings. New Agers view God as an Impersonal Life force, Consciousness, or Energy (e.g., the “Star Wars Force”) mainly but they also believe in His personal aspect, as the Ocean (which is Formless ) can take the form of an iceberg! They averr that every human has a divine spark within him because all created beings are reflections of the Divine Idea. The eternal state is called by various terms among different New Age groups, i.e., God-consciousness, Universal Love, Self-Realization, the I AM, Higher Self, Brahman, Nirvana, etc.

2. The Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Christ Consciousness or the Divine Consciousness is what the New Age advocates mean by Christ. . In other words, Christ is a Divine Principle rather than an individual, such as Jesus. This idea of Christ Consciousness asserts that Jesus was only one of the Christs, but that He equipped Himself to receive the Christ Consciousness (i.e., He was a great Master who attained Christ Consciousness), as did other prophets like Buddha, Krishna, and Mohammed. New Agers believe Dr Paul Brunton who stated the Jesus spent 18 years in India absorbing Indian Mysticism and that he was initiated into the highest esoteric doctrine.

3. Human Destiny. Man is the measure of all things and is more divine than the animals & hence the salvation of the world depends upon Man. Cleansing the negative elements from the collective subconscient should be the aim of humanity. Once Negativity is cleaned from the collective subconscient, the human positive energy will shine forth and the noble ideals of the New Age will be actualised in an era of Enlightenment. Since man is intrinsically divine and perfect, his only real problem is ignorance of that fact. Gnosis means experiential knowledge and Salvation in the New Age is for man to become enlightened through this Divine Gnosis. New Age groups offer various spiritual techniques to enable individuals, and ultimately the world, to evolve into this Unitive Consciousness . These techniques may include psychotechnologies for attaining altered states of consciousness – Transcendental Meditation, Yoga, Zen, Attunement , Channeling (Spirit guides), Psychics, Acupuncture, etc.

4. The Ethical Opposites, Good & Evil – Believing in the Oriental philosophies, New Agers make the distinction between good and evil. All wickedness is weakness and Evil is imperfection. By the method of Trial and Error, we come to know what is good and what is bad for the world and we have to transcend the dualities.

5. Reincarnation. New Agers believe in the ancient Vedic philosophic concept of Reincarnation — that through a long process of rebirths, man can eventually attain Divine perfection. They also teach the Universal Law of Karma –(The Law of Cause and Effect ( Every effect has a cause ), the Law of Action and Reaction, the Law of Retribution)- that what a person sows , he shall reap. This is also the doctrine of God’s non-responsibility, that the Self is not responsible and it is the Ego which experiences bitter & sweet mental experiences due to its own Karma.

6.Salvation is Self-Actualisation and Sin is Ignorance – Some theoreticians taught the concept of Man’s Original Sin. New Age exponents teach the concept of man’s essential goodness. Instead of systems which emphasised the human negative aspect and sin, New Age highlights that every man is essentially divine and it is a sin to call man a sinner ! However, New Agers speak of troublesome desires which are natural impulses which retard human evolution and make the Ego move away from the Self. Sin is merely ignorance of man’s essential divinity. The atrophied spiritual consciousness of the normal man who lives in ignorance of his Divine Self is Sin. Like the Law of Conservation of Energy which states that Energy cannot be created or destroyed, the Law of Conservation of Soul states that the Soul can neither be created nor destroyed. Matter exists in 3 states, liquid, gaseous and solid and matter cannot be created or destroyed. Nothing ever begins to be. Similarly Life does not at physical birth begin to be. It merely enters physical conditions and assumes physical guise. It merely undergoes a parallel transformation into conditions which preexisted in other conditions. The Soul is reincarnated in different bodies in a continous succession of lives. The good or bad Karma earned in the present lifetime determines one’s subsequent incarnation. Attaining higher states of Consciousness should be our aim. There are many different paths to the goal of Divine perfection and we should be tolerant of other paths.

The divine Aurobindo predicted that spiritual influences from India will trigger off a global spiritual movement. There will be Mass Incarnations (many people divinely inspired) who will work for World Peace and Universal Love !

I saw them cross the twilight of the Age
The massive barrier breakers of this world
The sun-eyed children of a marvellous dawn
The architects of immortality
Carrying the magic Word, the mystic Fire
Carrying the Dionysian Cup of Joy !

The four systems of Philosophy which triggered the N A M are Hinduism, a product of 5,000 years of development, Buddhism, circa 560 B.C., Taoism, circa 500 B.C & Druidism, circa 300 B.C, the religion of the Celts, which extended upto the Middle Ages.

Thunder Eggs (Mount Hay, Australia)

Thunder Egg 1

Thundereggs are agates that form in volcanoes. Ancient man, who believed they dropped from the sky during thunderstorms, called them Thundereggs.

Until recently, it was believed they were hurled from a volcano, and cooled and hardened as they flew trough the air. Now, it is believed that eggs form as lava around gas bubbles in the lava flow. Chemicals and gases react as the lava flows to the surface.

Thunder Egg 1

The egg is then formed; it cracks under the heat and allows the build up of gas to escape. The hollow is then filled with mineral solutions or silica, which solidifies, consequently forming the different types of centres. The centre of the egg is normally agate, chalcedony or jasper, however you may sometimes find crystalline forms within, such as amethyst, citrine, clear quartz, smoky quartz, calcite or other minerals.

At Mount Hay the lava is of the felsite type, specifically the rhyolite group, consisting mainly of alkaline feldspars and quartz. Mount Hay thundereggs are of two types, spherulites and spheruloids. The former being made up of radiating fibrous crystals of feldspar, the latter made of very fine crystalline quartz and feldspar. Mount Hay thundereggs are over 120 million years old. This is determined by the fossil findings in the surrounding areas.

Thunder Egg 2

The thundereggs at Mount Hay are considered to be some of the most attractive in the world because of their spherulitic ryhyolite make-up. Another interesting fact is that there are facilities for the public in Queensland to go ‘fossilling’ for these fascinating and unique eggs. So if ever you’re in Oz, go and visit the Mount Hay Gemstone Tourist Park(near Wycarbah, 41km south west of Rockhampton on the Capricorn Highway) and tell them the Mystic-Mouse web-site sent you!!!

Wands & Wand Creation

Wand Workshop wands

What is a wand? Put simply a wand is an energetic tool which may be used to focus intent and what is often described as subtle energy to bring about change in oneself, in others and ones environment. Wands are fashioned from a multitude of materials and to many designs.

Wand Workshop wands

Wands have been used in many cultures throughout history. Wands and other vibrational tools were used extensively in Atlantean, and Lemarian cultures, which filtered down to many of the cultures of Africa, and Europe. In fact their legacy is still seen in positions of authority in modern society, such as staffs, crooks, and sceptres wielded by church leaders and heads of state.

As interest has rekindled in all forms of energy work, magic, healing modalities, wiccanism, and shamanism, wands have found resurgence in our society. Most countries will have a number of craftsmen and women creating wands of various designs.

Wands can be made from wood, metal or indeed anything, which will conduct subtle energy. Plastics and other materials can be used to fashion wands but are not generally used because of their insulating properties. Leather was and is used in some wand designs to insulate the energy field of the practitioner from the wand. The choice of insulation is purely personal but our designs use conductive materials to link the energy field of the practitioner directly with his or her wand.

Many traditional wands were, and still are, made from wood. For those of you who may wish to fashion your own wooden wand it is important for the energetics that the wand is of live wood. If a branch or twig is cut from a tree or plant, the life force that animates the wood will be rapidly withdrawn from the branch in order for the plant to conserve its energy.

Live wood is obtained by tuning in to the consciousness of the tree and asking that a gift of the chosen branch be given. Sit or stand with the tree for a while, spend some time getting to know the tree. Then when it feels appropriate either out loud or in your head state that you wish to be given a section of live wood to create a wand and ask that the vibration and energy be left in the section from which the wand is to be fashioned. Once you have cut the live wood thank the tree, and leave some form of exchange. The wand can then be fashioned or carved into an appropriate form and augmented with the addition of crystals, coloured ribbons feathers or other items significant to you.

Wooden wands are by their very nature ideal for practitioners of earth magic, wiccans, etc. Generally speaking wooden wands have a very subtle, flowing natural feel to their energy. The wand was and indeed still is a part of Druidic and shamanic tool kits. The wand is used to work with the element of air, which is associated with the mental body and the intellect, hence its use as a focus for ones intent.

In contrast to wooden wands metal-based wands are highly conductive, very directional and focused energetically. Designs may include matrices of wires or metal rods to form the wand, or more commonly a metal tube with crystals and other materials mounted in them.

The easiest form of metal wand to fashion is a tubular wand. Copper or stainless steel pipe is easily obtained and cut to length using a pipe cutter or hacksaw. Crystals are then mounted at either end of the pipe. Some designs place additional crystals or energetic materials in the pipe to confer different energy frequencies for different applications.

Designs vary and some of the most ornate metal wands have platonic solids and other complex shapes and wire matrices bonded to the pipe or handle.

In addition to using crystals to enhance a wooden or metal wand, some wands are fashioned from pure crystal. In order to form the blocks of crystal into a wand specialist tooling is generally required depending on the hardness of the crystal.

Celtic Curve Wand by the Wand Workshop

While it is possible to fashion a quartz wand using carborundum paper it will take a very long time, and a lot of elbow power. These wands are best purchased ready made but can easily be augmented with the addition of extra crystals or built into metal or wooden wands if so desired.

Once the basic wand of whatever material is formed the energy may be augmented by the addition of other crystals. These crystals will blend their vibrations with that of the wand in order to bring about positive change. Winding conductive materials such as metal wire around the wand can further augment the energy of the wand. If a spiral is wound down the piece, or even multiple spirals, then the energy flow will be further amplified. Using these basic principles the harmonics of a wand can be tailored to suit any practitioner.

Once having obtained your wand, either after purchasing one or making your own, what to do with it? The simple answer will be to follow your own intuition, but the following tried and tested techniques have worked for us.

Wands are usually rod like in construction, generally one end collects energy which is focused down the wand and directed via a crystal or a point to bring about change. One of the most common designs utilises a sphere as the collector and a point at the other end as a director.

Wands are normally held in the right hand. Energetically we receive energy with the left hand and give with the right hand. Focus your intent and then direct the energy through the wand to the recipient. The wand may be used in this fashion to draw sacred symbols, connect crystals in a grid or matrix, or direct energy to a person, time or place.

One of the prime uses of a wand is in healing. The wand may be used in whatever fashion feels appropriate. The wand may be passed up and down the recipient pointed at wounds or energy blockages etc and energy will be directed in. In addition the wand may be placed base down on the recipient in order to draw negative energy or pain etc out. Once this energy is drawn out it is important to transmute this negativity and there are a number of methods to achieve this.

A statement of intent that the negative energy removed during healing is transmuted into positive energy is one way of achieving this. Directing the energy into a vortex of purple light may also be used. Calling on guidance, angelic energies, or ascended masters such as Saint Germain to assist in the transmutation of negative energy may also be used.

After the wand has been used it should be cleansed using a smudge stick, visualisation or by blowing down the wand to remove any negativity.

Wands may be laid on a recipient to balance the energy system, or to open the chakra chain. In addition to healing, wands may be used as an aid to meditation simply by holding the wand whilst in the medative state.

A good wand is a powerful partner in any form of energy work. Tell it what you want it to do, give the wand clear instruction on what you want doing , i.e. place it at the feet of the recipient and ask the wand to open the chakra chain and dissolve any negative energies it encounters. Then turn it around and ask that it draws any negativity it has dissolved from the person’s energy field. Of course thank the wand and those who have worked through the wand for their efforts.

Never point your wand at anyone without the intent to heal or bring about positive change, and again never without his or her permission. Take care of your wand and always cleanse it after use.

In time most practitioners develop a method of working with the wand, which suits them, this article is intended as a general guide to enable you to develop a technique, which works for you. Feel free to experiment, but we recommend that before working with any energetic process a simple affirmation that what will take place occurs for the highest good of yourself and any recipient is good practice.

Your wand is a powerful tool for change at all levels and as such should be used with responsibility.

Hour of Power

Aristotle said that if you gave him a lever big enough, he could move the world. The same principle of leverage applies in your life. In this case, we are talking about the use of a small amount of time each day to revolutionize the results you get from the rest of your day and your life.

If a person would take just one hour out of every day, and devote it to personal development, he/she would rapidly achieve extraordinary results in life. This is the idea that is being presented to you here, and one you would do well to take seriously. Before you even think of saying that “you can’t afford the time”, consider this: you can’t afford NOT to! Too much of the time, our well-intentioned resolutions for self betterment fall by the wayside. Certainly, we intend to take our personal growth very seriously. Yet, it either never happens at all, or if it does, fails to yield the results we might have hoped for.

This is often because there is little consistency in what we are doing. Sometimes, we go at it strong and appear to make good progress. However, with no set routine to fall back on, we are always at risk of letting the whole thing slide when something “important” comes up. By establishing an hour of power – a regular daily period for self growth – you prevent this from happening and make solid progress rapidly. Many people devote regular time to physical exercise, which is to be applauded. However, doesn’t your mental life, and your very future, deserve the same respect?

What does this hour consist of? To a large extent, you can shape it as you wish. However, there should be certain elements present. There should definitely be time reserved to set and review your goals. This would include writing them out by hand to reinforce them upon your mind. All this could take 10-15 minutes. There should be a period where you actively visualize the successful achievement of your dreams. Here, you use all of your imaginative inner senses to bring your desired future into your present subconscious reality.

You could spend 20-30 minutes of your hour reading a personal growth book, or listening to tapes from motivational speakers. Remember that in order to recondition your subconscious, and raise the vibration of your thoughts and what you attract to yourself, you need to be continually feeding yourself with positive material. If you have spent much of your life thinking negative, and being fed unhelpful ideas by those around you, it is vital that you consciously reverse the process and impregnate yourself on a regular basis with the ideas that actually help you move you forward and upward.

Perhaps 5-10 minutes of your hour of power can be spent actually planning out your day? Alternatively, if you do your hour in the evenings, then you can plan out the next day. This would simply involve listing out the things you need to do, and ranking them in order of importance. Clearly, we are not talking about remembering to do the shopping, or going to see the latest movie. Rather, you need to list and execute the actions you can take that will propel your life forward, and then make sure they get done. Simply listing your activities for the day, ranking them in order of importance, and making sure they get done will change your life dramatically!

Nobody can create your hour of power for you. It is down to you to decide on the components you want to include. Perhaps a period of quiet reflection on your life is something you would wish to include. Decide on what you want to do with the time, and plan it out. Do not just set aside an hour and then drift through it without any plan. Sub-divide the hour into discrete sections, e.g. 15-minute chunks, and have an idea of what you will do in each before you even begin. Indeed, your very first hour of power may be devoted to planning out all the others to follow.

Also, it may not be one hour in a single sitting. You may find it better to do two half-hour sessions, at the start and end of the day respectively. That is fine too, if it works for you and your time schedule. However, do not sacrifice the hour total. You do need that amount of time to make it work. After all, this is not “wasted time”. Rather, it could be the key component in taking you forward towards your dreams and goals.

Give some thought to this idea and consider making the hour of power a key part of your daily schedule. We are so involved in so many activities that we need a solid chunk of the day to revitalize our hopes and dreams, and keep ourselves going on the right path. Yes, given a large enough lever, you could indeed move the world. But first, you have to move yourself!

Wizards of Wall Street

The rumors are true. Esoteric techniques ARE being used to make big money. Whether it be collapsing stocks on Wall Street, or volatile Commodity Futures, the esoteric traders are out there and growing in number.

During my eleven career in Investment Banking, my role as Technical Analyst to a number of major firms gave me the opportunity to not only hear about these secret techniques, but actually use them to advise on the investment of huge quantities of money.

What sort of esoteric methods are we talking about? Specifically, Astrology, Numerology and Sacred Geometry. Why are they still secret? Because, in the extremely conservative world of Investment Banking, they are considered highly unorthodox, and hence illegitimate. The very suspicion that such methods are definitely being used by major “responsible” banks would cause a media scandal (and has done so on at least one occasion). Even within the firm, anyone using such techniques tends to keep them secret from their seniors. The fact that such techniques work extremely well, and allow you to forecast and trade the markets in a manner possible in no other way, is not of the slightest interest.

Astrological techniques are generally used to determine future turning points – i.e. tops or bottoms – in the market being studied. However, they can also be used to determine price levels where falling prices are likely to meet support, or rising prices are likely to meet resistance to their ascent. In my own work, I tended to use a clustering approach to determine future turning points in time. In other words, where several different astrological signals all line up to the same day on daily charts, or the same week on longer-term weekly charts, it would signal a high probability turning point. All of these would then be noted in a calender, often years in advance, which could then be consulted on a regular basis to watch for critical time periods.

Astrological natal charts are also very powerful. As with human beings, every stock or commodity is considered to have a specific date of birth. In the case of stocks, for example, this is often the incorporation date. Hence it is possible to draw up a natal chart for a stock, and then analyze what is coming up for that stock in any particular time period, just as you would for a human being.

Remarkable astrological correspondences can be seen around major financial market events. For example, it has been found that the 1929 and 1987 stock market charts look remarkably similar. Actually, this is common knowledge in the financial industry. What is not commonly known is that when moon cycles and Fibonacci numbers are considered, it is possible to demonstrate that the two charts are actually IDENTICAL. Moreover, the 1929 crash and the 1987 crash are separated by an exact number of Fibonacci lunar cycles. The person who discovered this “Spiral Calender” phenomenon, an options trader called Chris Carolyn, put this information to use in the 1989 “mini-crash” and made so much money, he never needs to work again!

Numerology and Sacred Geometry are also used in various forms in the financial markets. One of the truly great exponents of these techniques was William D. Gann; reputed to be the greatest trader who ever lived. Anyone interested in these techniques would do well to study his books and courses.

Most of his techniques center around the circle, and divisions of the circle. Hence 360, 270, 240, 180, 144, 120, 90, 72, 60, 45 are all important numbers in the financial markets, since they are all exact fractions of a circle (e.g. 270 is 3/4 of a 360 degree circle). All of these numbers are found to be very important in studying price charts. For example, you will often find that a market makes a top exactly 90 days/weeks/months after a previous top or bottom. Astrologers know 90 degrees to be the Square aspect.

Gann made use of all sorts of strange charts that would not have looked out of place in a magician’s secret chamber. For instance, the “Square of 9” chart is a number spiral that commences with 1 in the center position. The numbers 2-9 then spiral around it to form a second layer, followed by all the other numbers in successive layers, working outward and getting progressively larger. This was just one of Gann’s square charts. However, he also did number sequences in hexagons, triangles, and circles. With these tools, you can plot major market turning points, and then study relationships between them, using the circular angles defined above (e.g. the price of the top formed last week is “trine (120)” to some major previous top or bottom). There are also ways of combining such charts with Astrology.

Such concepts work on longer term price charts too. Often, you will find that a market top/bottom occurs 120 months after a previous top/bottom. Yet, this also illustrates another important market geometry. After all, what is 120 months equal to? The answer is, exactly 10 years. Indeed, it is also found that markets turn on anniversary dates; ten years, five years, one year, six months etc., after a previous major turning point, etc. By looking forward on a long-term price chart from a major previous top or bottom, you will often find other major turns 5, 10, 15 years and more into the future. Indeed, Gann kept charts going back decades and, in a couple of cases (such as Wheat), centuries!

In contrast to these TIME turning points, it is also possible to determine important PRICE levels where the market has a high probability of stopping and forming a top or bottom. The simplest method by far is to determine the midpoint between a previous recent major top and bottom. This midpoint will then form a support or resistance to the price action. Hence, it is possible to mark this point in advance on the chart, and watch to see when the price reaches it. If it starts to turn at this price level (especially if we have a turning point in time as well, as discussed above), then a potential trade is possible. There are many other techniques, besides the “50% retracement” method just described, for determining key price levels.

In truth, there are a huge number of powerful techniques available in both price and time. With these, it is possible to be well prepared for anything the market might do. Indeed, there are many traders who work 100% with these techniques ALONE, and have no idea what is happening in the so-called “real world”. They do not watch CNN; they do not care what the economists are forecasting; it does not matter to them who the US/UK are bombing this month. All that matters is the price action, and what their esoteric indicators and signals are telling them. You may be surprised to hear that many of these traders do extremely well indeed.

The valuable lesson to draw from all of this is that esoteric technology has many practical applications that are actually measurable in a quantitative manner. The same divine symmetries enshrined in the pyramids and temples of Ancient Egypt are alive and active in the world today, in ways that still defy exact scientific explanation. Hence, the esoteric numbers and ratios, discovered and revered millennia ago, truly are present in all aspects of our world.

Yin and Yang – The Meaning of

Traditionally within Chinese medicine, the health of a patient is defined as a balance of the body’s yin and yang. These two terms relate to the opposing, yet complimentary, qualities which make up all that is present in the natural world. Thus, yin and yang would represent such aspects as night (yin) and day (yang), male and female, or other complimentary as well as opposing factors.

In Chinese medicine it is believed that some organs of the body are yin organs, while others are yang organs. The central idea of this form of medicine is prevention. Even 2000 years ago, Chinese physicians were putting great emphasis on moderation of diet, exercise and lifestyle to aid their patients with maintaining a healthy, balanced life which it was believed was a preventative of illness.

In ancient times the physicians of China were also philosophers with their theories firmly rooted in Taoist tradition. The Tao stresses a oneness in nature of all things. This would mean that the human body would operate by the same principals. Traditional Chinese medicine first became known through an ancient book, “The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine”, which was said to be written by Huang-di two millennium ago. It is believed that this text was amended by unknown authors over the years but it was identified as the first attempt to codify Chinese Medicine.

With yin and yang, the harmony that health depends on, also depends on the balance of these two aspects. Since our bodies externally and internally are in dynamic balance with nature, they are constantly making changes in response to everything we come into contact with to maintain that balance. It is during those times that we cannot adapt to these influences that we become ill. According to Chinese medicine our organs operate in pairs. For instance, there are five zany organs which include the heart, kidney, spleen, liver and lungs. These are paired with the five fu organs which are the small intestines, stomach, large intestines, bladder and gallbladder. The fu organs which work predominately to transform food into energy and eliminate waste are our yang organs. The zany organs which control the storage of vital substances are our yin organs.

The term organ in Chinese medicine refers to a complete network and not just a single organ. This network will include the skin, tendons, tissues and bones which form an energy network in the body. Thus, in order to have a healthy balance of yin and yang, all aspects of the entire network must maintain a consistent and even flow of vital energy that relates equally to the forces of nature. This is done by treating the whole person by combining healing practices such as herbal medicine, moxa cones, acupuncture, rhythmic exercise and food therapy to insure a balance of yin and yang.
